Caroline Melear is a Fellow on R Street's Finance, Insurance, and Trade team, where she conducts in-depth research on federal financial regulation and legislation. Her work focuses on agencies like the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Securities and Exchange Commission, as well as issues related to home and auto insurance in Florida. Prior to joining R Street, Caroline worked as a financial research analyst for a private family office, where she covered public and private equities and passed Level I of the Chartered Financial Analyst exam on her first attempt.
A published writer for The Daily Caller, RealClearMarkets, and The Washington Examiner, Caroline has appeared on prominent media outlets such as Fox Business, CBS Miami, and The Today Show. She was recognized with Maverick PAC’s Future40 award in 2022. Caroline holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Florida State University, where she also earned minors in Spanish and computer science, and served as president of the student senate. Now based in West Palm Beach, Florida, she lives with her husband, two children, and their dog, Penny.
